Road Resurfacing
Staff is utilizing CoPACES Software to rate all County
Roads.
Software developed by Georgia Tech researchers in
close coordination with the Georgia Department of
Transportation.
Chatham County was one of two counties in Georgia
to beta-test the software.
Staff working on a webpage where road ratings and
schedule for resurfacing can be viewed by the public.
Road Resurfacing
In 2014, Chatham County resurfaced 2.5 miles of roads.
In 2015, Chatham County resurfaced 8.6 miles of roads.
In 2016, Chatham County programmed funding for 18.5 miles of
roads.
Chatham County is utilizing LMIG funds from GDOT to pay a
portion of the resurfacing, and matching these with SPLOST
funds.
Expect a 30% increase in LMIG funds for future grants with H.B.
170. About $1,000,000 a year in LMIG funding beginning in FY17.
Anticipate resurfacing approximately 6 to 8 miles of roads per
year based on projected funding.
