Lecture 1
Introduction to ICS

Learning outcomes
LO1: Interpreting various accounting and business related issues
in an organisational context. (Cognitive 5 Evaluation)
LO2: Undertake independent research. Develop alternative
solutions to issues, devise action plans, and resolve
implementation issues (Cognitive 6 Creating)

LO4: Demonstrate awareness of ethical considerations as part of
the decision making process. Demonstrate leadership and
teamwork in issues development and resolution (Affective 5

Objectives
A capstone course for Bachelor of
Accountancy programme.
To equip graduates with the soft-skills
ability in the process of developing their
professional abilities and competencies. It
is hoped that ICS will stimulate the thinking
skills, analytical skills and application of
knowledge of accounting, business and
economics in problem solving and decision
making processes.

Objectives
To enable learners to integrate knowledge from
the various related disciplines and to enhance
their technical core competencies and their
problem solving skills in the unstructured
business.
Cases
discussed
should
reflect
the
multidisciplinary nature of complex business
environment.

Objectives
Experiential exercises are embedded in
this course to support learners effort in
independent learning.
- Role playing, debate, presentation, etc.
- Investors, analysts, creditors, directors,
consultants,
managers,
auditors,
regulators, and employees.
To support learners independent learning

Individual preparation before the start of
each case:
Read the case
Prepare the case chart
Make 2 copies of the case chart
Submit 1 copy of the case chart before the
start of the class
Marks will be awarded based on
completeness of case charts (5 marks/case)

New groups will be formed for each case
4/5 students per group (fill in the group
form, one per group)
Discussion takes place during lecture
