The Great

Controversy

The Fall

Key texts
Revelation 12:712
Isaiah 14:12-15
Ezekiel 28:11-15,

The spirit of
discontent and
disaffection had
never before been
known in heaven. It
is a new element,
strange, mysterious,
unaccountable.
PP p.9

Lucifer had not at

first been accounted
with the real nature
of his feelings; for a
time he had feared to
express the workings
and imaginations of
his mind; yet he did
not dismiss them. He
did not see whither he
was drifting. PP p.9

Leaving his place in the

immediate presence of the
Father, Lucifer went forth to
diffuse the spirit of
discontent among the
angels. He worked with
mysterious secrecy, and for
a time concealed his real
purpose under an
appearance of reverence
from God.
PP p.8

He insinuate doubts
concerning the laws that
governed heavenly beings,
intimating that though laws
be necessary for inhabitants
of the worlds, angels, being
more exalted, needed no
such restraints, for their own
wisdom was a sufficient
guide.
PP p.8

For the good of the

entire universe through
ceaseless ages, he
(Lucifer) must fully
develop his principles,
that his charges against
the divine government
might be seen in their
true light by all created
beings and that the

Cast out

Creation
Here is no mystery. There is no ground
for the supposition that man was evolved
by slow degrees of development from
the lower forms of animal or vegetable
life. Such teaching lowers the great work
of the Creator to the level of mans
narrow, earthly conceptions. Men was so
intent upon excluding God from the
sovereignty of the universe that they
degrade man and defraud him of the
dignity of his origin. p.13

So God created man in His own

image male and female created He
them. Here is clearly set forth the
origin of the human race; and the
divine record is so plainly stated that
there is no occasion for erroneous
conclusions. God created man in His
own image. PP p.13

Chap 3: Temptation & Fall

The tree of
knowledge had
been made a test
of their obedience
and their love for
God. p.20

Love, gratitude
loyalty to the
Creator, all were
overborne by love
for Eve. She was a
part of himself and
he could not
endure the thought
of separation He
resolved to share
her fate; if she
must die, he would
die with her.
PP, p.

Eden remained
upon the earth
long after man had
become an outcast
from its pleasant
paths. The fallen
race were long
permitted to gaze
upon the home of
innocence , their
entrance bared
only by the
watching angels.

When the tide of

iniquity spread
the world, and the
wickedness of
men determined
their destruction
by a flood of
waters, that hand
that had planted
the garden
withdrew it from
the earth. p.26

Plan of Redemption
The broken law demanded the
life of a sinner. In all the universe
there is but one who could, in
behalf of man, satisfy its claim.
Since the divine law is as sacred
as God himself, only one equal
with God could make
atonement for its
transgression. Non but Christ
could redeem fallen men from
the curse of the Law and bring
him again into harmony with
heaven.
PP p.27

Read 1 Corinthians 15:22

For as in Adam we all die, so in Christ we
shall all live

Satan rejoiced with his

angels that, having
caused mans fall , he
could bring down the
Son of God from His
exalted position. He
declared that His plans
had thus far been
successful upon the
earth, and that when
Christ should take
upon Himself human
nature, He also might
