INTRODUCTION
The concept of this study is the correlation between the
students educational experience in Calamba, Laguna &
prefer national hero and their knowledge in Rizals Life,
Works & Writings (PI 100). This study is for the Central
Luzon State University students who took up the PI 100
during the A.Y. 2015-2016 1st Semester to determine their
degree of knowledge in the said subject. This study is
conducted to know the relevance of PI 100 (Rizals Life,
Works and Writings) as part of the curriculum, to measure
the degree of the knowledge of the students in PI 100, and to
determine the significant relation of educational experience
and prefer national hero to their knowledge in the course.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE


Republic Act No. 1425 (June 12, 1956), known as the Rizal
Law, mandates all educational institutions in the Philippines to
offer courses about Jose Rizal. The full name of the law is An
Act to Include in the Curricula of All Public and Private
Schools, Colleges and Universities Courses On the Life, Works
and Writings of Jose Rizal, Particularly his novels Noli Me
Tangere and El Filibusterismo.

Laguna do not have significant relation to the knowledge of
CLSU Freshmen students in PI 1OO.

RESEARCH DESIGN
The researchers used a Descriptive-Correlational
Method in the conduct of the study to determine the relation
of the CLSU freshmen students preferred national hero &
whether they had experienced an educational field trip in
Calamba, Laguna, to their knowledge in PI 100 (Rizals Life,
Works and Writings).

PARTICIPANTS
130 CLSU Freshmen Students
who took the course Rizals Life, Works and Writings (PI 100) last
A.Y. 2015-2016
1st Semester

DATA GATHERING
In administering the test, the researcher will give the
questionnaires directly to the respondents and let them
answer it comprehensively, freely and objectively and
accomplish the questionnaire safely. The researchers will
be using a test in determining whether the variables are
related to each other. The test is consisting of two parts;
the first part is questions about their preferred national
hero ;they are going to choose from Rizal and Bonifacio
and whether they have or havent experienced an
educational field trip in Calamba, Laguna. The second part
of the test will be used to measure their knowledge about
PI 100 which consists of 25 questions about Rizals life,
works and writings.

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
To describe the relationship between the variables of the
study; Preferred National Hero, Experience educational field trip
in Calamba, Laguna and Knowledge in P I100, Descriptive
Statistics such as mean and SD will be used. In describing level
of knowledge and correlating respondents scores and their choice
of the National Hero, frequency counts, mean, standard deviation
and significance will be used. PEARSON r was used in testing
the relationship between the variables. The hypotheses of the
study will be tested at p= 0.05 level of significance.

CONCLUSION
The preferred national hero and educational experience in
Calamba, Laguna do not have a significant relationship to the
knowledge of the CLSU Freshmen students about PI 100 (Rizals
life, works and writings). Based on the students scores in the
given test, we also concluded that the mean of their scores is only
15.68 which means that the scores of the respondents got low
score in spite that they just took PI 100 last semester..
