Gas Extension Requirements

Historic Approach to extending gas facilities:
For Heating Customers

- up to 100 of gas main and 100 of gas service for each gas heating customer

For Non-Heating Customers

up to 100 of combined gas main and service for non heat gas uses such as cooking,
drying and fireplaces.

For footages in excess of these allotments

A Customer Contribution is required.

Gas Expansion Usually happens one customer at a time

Gas Extension Requirements

Neighborhood Expansion Approach:
Requires 60% of historic commitment levels
Density requirement- minimum of 8 homes per 500
Gas System in area must be adequate
No customer contribution required
Allows for aggregating interest in an area

For Example:
Today a 1,000 main extension requires 10 homes.
Under Neighborhood Expansion a 1,000 main extension requires 6 homes

Gas Expansion can now include Streets/Neighborhoods/Villages

Interest in a large area can be aggregated
