Course Title: Wellness

Description: This is a personal health course designed to help students learn to choose
healthful behaviors that will enhance their current lives and prepare them for the
demands and stressors of post-high school education, work and family life. The course
includes study on the concept of wellness and the skills needed for healthful behaviors in
mental, physical and social health. The focus is on personal application of the skills
within each area of your health. The activities in this course will include a variety of
group and personal experiences. An introduction of a variety of occupations in the
Health Services industry will be studied throughout the semester. There is no text used
in this course but there will be readings from current materials occasionally.

Connections to College/Careers:

Wellness skills II provides students with knowledge necessary for


balancing work, play, family, and stresses of life in a meaningful
manner. Students gain knowledge of how to maintain optimum
health, and to lead a meaningful and productive life, and how to
avoid unhealthy choices.
Careers in Health Care field are numerous and encompass
many levels of technical training. The health care field is one of
the fasted growing fields today and is projected to continue for
the next 10 years or more. The technology being developed
today is most prominent in health care field. There are
professions from nuclear medicine, to medical physicist,
pharmacy, to admission, physical rehabilitation to maternity
care. Not only is the financial rewards significant, the benefits,
and opportunities for training advancement, and retirement
incentives are excellent.

Participation:
All students will receive 10 points per
day for proper class participation. Students
who are not present will forfeit the
participation points. In the event of an
excused absence, see the instructor for
make-up work in this area.
- Tardiness can result in losing points

Make-Up Policy after Absences:
Following an absence, it is the students
responsibility to find out what was missed and to
plan to make it up. To make up missed work,
arrange a time with your teacher to complete the
needed assignments. The student will be expected
to make-up missed work or tests within a week of
the number of days missed. Any assignment, quiz
or test missed due to an unexcused absence will be
marked 0.

2. Come to class prepared and geared up to learn.


Need Paper, Writing utensil, Folder, Journal, and Planner

3. If you eat food; throw away the trash, keep it off the
ground
4. Water is allowed (sports drinks okay too)
5. Positive participation in class is expected
6. All work is to be turned in on time to BROWN box
7. Absolutely NO profanity, radios, CD players, cell
phones, pagers, toys, ect. in class.
8. Maintain a relationship with one study partner in class
