Abstract
This project aims to develop and design a smarthome
prototype that can be used, together with an Android phone or
remote as centralized switch for simple home appliances via
Local Area Network. The smarthome prototype can handle by
wireless system at the same time with a manual switch. The
main body of the smarthome prototype contains an Arduino
microcontroller connected to a relay driver circuit. An android
application is also developed using opensource appmaking
software. The proponents add features such as renaming
devices and password security to make a user-friendly
interface. The proponents used the developmental method and
conducted several tests to determine if the prototype satisfied
the scope and limitations. The proponents tested the prototype
to handle varying number of home appliances loads and
showed that the prototype can really automate the switching of
simple home appliances.

DEFINITION SMART HOME

Home Automation gives you access to control devices in your home

from a mobile device in the Home.

Lighting,

appliances, electrical outlets, heating and cooling

systems are hooked up to a remotely controllable network.

Provide improved convenience, comfort, energy,

security.

efficiency and

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Anything in your home that uses electricity can be put on the
home network and at your command. Whether you give that
command by remote control or Mobile, the home reacts.
Smart homes work with fairly simple systems: receivers and
transmitters
Receivers detect a certain signal from the transmitter, that
issues a command.

Heres How It Works

Each device on the network, such as a lamp, light
switch, thermostat, garage door opener, pool control
and others have an individual code. When you
program one of the controller options, it
automatically ids what those codes are. Then
when you press the appropriate button, the
controller sends a signal to the device telling it what
to do.

Components
1. Arduino
The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller
board based on the ATmega328.
It has 14 digital Input/output pins (of
which 6 can be used as PWM outputs),6
analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator,
a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP
header, and a reset button. It contains
everything needed to support the
microcontroller; simply connect it to a
computer with a USB cable or power it
with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get
started.

2.Bluetooth Module
HC-05 module is an easy to use
Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol)
module, designed for transparent
wireless serial connection setup.
Serial port Bluetooth module is fully
qualified
Bluetooth
3Mbps
Modulation with complete 2.4GHz
radio transceiver and baseband.
It is powered directly from a standard 3V coin
cell battery or a pair of AAA batteries

3.Relay:
A relay is an electrically
operated switch.
Relays are used where it is
necessary to control a circuit by a
low-power signal.
Relays protect electrical circuits
from overload or faults.

Design for Use, Reuse and

Sustainability
Design of Use and Reuse
The Arduino is inexpensive and the Arduino IDE makes it
extremely easy to program the on-board microcontroller. We can use
board with different program load according different application on
our use.
Design of Sustainability
Arduino is an echo system to allow rapid development. The
Arduino board has not the protection circuits often required in
industrial applications to protect the controller as well as many other
potential safety and environmental considerations.

Advantages:
The main advantage of HomeAutomationthrough
AndroidMobile is that the PhysicallyChallenged
andDisabledPeople .
Saves time
Saves money(long run)
Self maintenance
Security
Makes life easier

Future Scope
Home automation can make a difference regarding
better energy management and usage of renewable
energy sources, Lighting control, Heat, ventilation and
control. Therefore unmatched potential for energy
saving and hence cost is saving.
In future this product may have high potential for marketing.

Conclusion
Home Automation undeniably a resource which can
make a home environment automated. People can
control their electrical devices via these Home
Automation devices. Home automation allows accessing
to different home automation devices in a uniform and
generic way, independently of their technology. Here
some generic devices are display. More different type of
device we make home automate.
