Problem Statement

Less reliability of renewable sources in terms of

sustainability.
Limited conventional reserves (fossil fuels etc.).
Shortage of electricity.
More dependency on WAPDA.
Increase of energy rate day by day.
Global warming.
Green house effect.
Carbon dioxide emission.

Aims and Objective

To ensure continuity of power supply.

To design an IMS(Intelligent Management System)
for supplying the load power demand.
To mitigate problem of electricity short fall.
To make cost effective system for consumer.
To encourage the investors to install renewable energy
systems.
To provide environment friendly energy.

Existing Methods

Standalone solar or wind system.[4]

Standalone solar and wind systems.[1]
Grid-connected system i.e., grid is only for backup. [2]
Work done on different topologies of invertor.[8]
Work done on different topologies of convertor. [6]
In renewable energy sources different techniques
used for maximum output
(MPPT in solar system). [7]

Proposed
Method
Convert all the hybrid sources into a specific DC level.
Convert DC into AC using Inverter.
Two sources synchronized each other to provide power.
Controller decides and select a source for the load.
Our first priority is to provide a power to load with our
hybrid system in case if load demand increase then
controller shut off the hybrid system and switch on the grid.
ZCD(Zero Cross Detection) method will be used for
synchronization.
MATLAB Simulink/Proteus will be used for simulation.

Simulations

In first simulation, solar model is simulated.

The voltages from PV panel is converted into
specific AC level using invertor.
These voltages are synchronized with Grid voltages
to transfer power.
Results obtained from simulations are shown below.

Cost analysis

The unit price of WAPDA is given below

NEPRA rates for 200 units is Rs 10/unit.

Rate for above 200 units is Rs 14/unit.

Using renewable hybrid sources cheap

electricity is obtained.
By sharing power of hybrid sources with
grid is also a way to get a payback of
capital cost quickly.
