In line with the national policy embodied in Republic Act No. 9003 known
as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 which mandates the
adoption of a systematic, comprehensive and ecological solid waste
Management, Saint Mary's University institutionalized the Clean, Healthy,
Safe and Friendly (CHSF) Program which seeks to create and sustain an
environmentally safe and sound community for the Marian students and
personnel. The program, which is primarily based on the shared
responsibility of all Marian stakeholders in establishing a more positive
academic climate, seeks to address environmental risks and degradation
by adopting the following courses of action:

waste reduction at source;

Segregation at source for recovery of reusable, recyclables and


compostables;

Segregated transportation, storage, transfer, processing, treatment


and disposal of solid waste; and

All other waste management activities which do not harm the human
and environment.
