Adaptive Learning
When teaching methods and materials are adjusted to meet the
needs of each student.
Technology is a great tool to implement adaptive learning
because of the flexibility. Software can easily change the difficulty
level, time allowance, etc, for each student.
Broadcast
To send the same message to multiple recipients
Ex: Sending mass emails
Multimedia
Compressed Video
When video signals are condensed to reduce the frequencies needed
to transmit.
This may result in lower quality and sacrificed information
Cookie
A message that is sent from a server to the users web browser that is
stored in a text file. Each time the webpage is revisited, the message
is sent back to the server.
Purpose is to allow the server to identify users
Encryption
Cut
To copy information to the computers clipboard while deleting the
actual information from the document.
This is done by right clicking on a word or image and selecting
cut. This will simultaneously copy and delete the information.

Firewall
Software or hardware that protects your computer from potential
damage from connecting to a public network.
Format
GIF
Graphics Interchange Format. A common format for graphics files;
similar to a short clip that does not need to be downloaded.
Homepage
Default webpage that displays on browser when you start it. Ex:
Google, Yahoo, School website.
HTTP
Hypertext Transfer Protocol. What the World Wide Web is built upon.
Before every website. Ex: (http://www.google.com)
Pixel
Tiny dots that make up a computer image. The more pixels a
computer monitor
Simulations
Interactive applications that allow role-play and modeling scenarios.
Spam
Junk e-mail that is unsolicited; usually advertisements or services
Upload
To copy data from your computer to another computer over a network
Network
Group of computers, printers, etc. that are connected together to
exchange information
Open Source
Software that has source code freely available to the general public
Router
Virus
Malicious, unsolicited computer program that installs on a computer
and attaches to files
