LONG SPAN PRE ENGINEERED STRUCTURES

A typical assembly of a simple metal building is shown to

illustrate the synergy between the various building
components as described below.

Main Frame.
Secondary Framing.
Exterior Cladding.
Wind Bracing.

The Components Used In PEB Systems For Constructing

MAIN FRAME
Moment resisting frames provides lateral stability & transfer the roof & wall loads to the
foundation through anchor bolts.
Rigid steel frames of
the

building

are

mainly considered as
the Main Frames of
PEB.
PEB

rigid

frame

comprises of tapered
columns and tapered
rafters (the fabricated
tapered sections are
referred to as built-up
members).

The Components Used In PEB Systems For Constructing

A Portal Frame (singular) is a simple
structure, usually with two columns and
joining rafter that has joints that resist
bending moments (i.e fixed). These allow for
bending forces within the members.
Typical portal frame

Portal Frames are designed for the following

loads:
roof load
wind load
While designing, care should be taken for:
proper joints
foundation
bracing

Generally, the centre--to--centre

distance between frames is 6 to
7.5m, with eaves height ranging
from 6 --15 m.
Typical bending moment

Normally, larger spacing of frames is

used in the case of taller buildings,
from the point of economy.

Advantages
There was a ready supply of a limited
range of standard frames that could
rapidly be transported, erected, and
finished at an economic cost.
They require no maintenance during the
useful life of the building.
It has a better resistance to collapse
during fires than an unprotected steel
frames.
Economy of section area gained by the
use of plastic method of design in the
design of steel frames is considerably
less with reinforced concrete.
Cover of concrete to the steel
reinforcement to inhibit rust and give
protection during fires.

Disadvantage
They have to be formed in standard
size moulds, for the sake of economy,
there is only a limited range of sizes.

SECONDARY FRAME
Purlins, Grits and Eave Struts are secondary structural members used to support the
wall and roof panels.
Purlins & girts receive loads from the roof & wall covering & transfer to the main
building frame.
Purlins are used on the roof;
Grits are used on the walls and
Eave Struts are used at the intersection of the sidewall and the roof.

SECONDARY FRAME
Secondary members have two functions: they act as struts that help in resisting part of
the longitudinal loads that are applied on the building such as wind and earthquake
loads, and they provide lateral bracing to the compression flanges of the main frame
members thereby increasing frame capacity.

EXTERIOR CLADDING
Exterior Cladding provide a weather tight envelope.
Transfer Structural Loads I.e. wind & live loads to the supporting secondary framing.
Provides lateral bracing to the roofs purlins & wall girts.
Panels used for sheeting purpose are generally of ribbed steel sheets used as roof and
wall sheeting, roof and wall liners, partition and soft sheeting.
The steel sheets are generally produced from steel coils having thickness 0.5 mm to
0.7 mm high tensile stress.

The floor is constituted by a profiled sheet onto

which a layer of concrete is poured.
The sheet is bonded to the concrete by means of
moldings on the sheet which stop the concrete
from slipping horizontally and detaching vertically.
When the concrete is poured and until it has
reached an appropriate level of hardening (stage
1), the weights of the concrete, personnel working
and equipment used is borne by the sheet alone.
Once the concrete has hardened (stage 2) the
sheet and the concrete form a unified bond with all
the characteristics of traditional reinforced
concrete, where the sheet, after having performed
the function of frame work, acts as a metal
reinforcement.
Appropriate crop ends must be provided to absorb
the negative moments.

Decking Sheet

INSULATED SHEET
Insulated Sheet - (Versatile high specification System)
Insulated Roof & Wall Cladding
Heating or cooling is one of the largest operating expenses in a building. That is why it is important
that each building has good thermal insulation that suits well with the usage of the building. Metal
insulation exhibits low thermal conductivity value.
Single or double skin insulated roof and wall cladding represent a major breakthrough in meeting
the demand for a versatile high specification system. The cost efficiency achieved makes it a viable
proposition for all users who require higher insulation values in terms of energy efficient roof and
walls.

INSULATED SHEET
Insulated Sheet - (Versatile high specification System)
Insulated Roof & Wall Cladding

Single Skin insulated System

Single Skin insulated roof and wall construction comprises of roof and wall cladding with metal
building roof insulation used underneath the cladding as under-deck insulation. The metal building
insulation is rolled over the purlins or girts and the external cladding sheets are then fixed to the
secondary framing through insulation. Only the vapour barrier is visible from inside the building.
Double Skin insulated System
Double Skin Insulated roof construction comprised of internal liner panels directly screwed to the
secondary framing, sub-girts screwed through spacer blocks & liner sheet to the purlins below,
metal building roll-insulation with vapour barrier is laid over the sub-grits and finally the outer
panel is screwed to the sub-grits through the insulation. Double skin wall cladding construction
comprises of internal liner screwed to the inside face of girts with the external sheet and insulation
fixed on the outside of the building.
It provides excellent protection against heat during summer apart from its property of
acoustic absorption

Sandwich PUF PANELS

The structures are available in profile, pre-painted, zinc coated, Galvalume Coated Steel and
Stainless Steel Sheets. Moreover, Polyethane, EPS and Acoustic core material is used for insulating
these structures.
The modular structures are cut-to-length using sophisticated machines and are supplied ready-toinstall.
These structures are highly durable, portable, leak proof, weather resistant and faster to erect.
Available in different colors and materials, these can be customize to suit specific requirements of
clients.
