He was one of those who ruled
out the presence of worms in
the teeth as causative agents
of dental caries.
He advised the use of a seat
for
dental
procedures,
because at that time patients
sat on the floor.
He
demonstrated
the
presence of roots in the
deciduous teeth.

 Fauchard is considered one of the

first orthodontic specialists of the
world.
He
advised
the
removal
of
deciduous teeth when this was
necessary to prevent malocclusion
in the permanent dentition.
He urged caution in the use of
endodontic reamers, because they
could be broken or swallowed by
the patient.
Fauchard was the first to record the
construction of complete dentures.
