2.Disclosure required by
law
In certain limited circumstances, disclosure of
patient information may be required by law.
These circumstances are not limited to but may
include:
when ordered by a judge in a court of law, or
by a tribunal or body established by an Act of
the Oireachtas, or
where mandated by infectious disease
regulations.
In these instances, you should inform patients
of the disclosure and the reasons for it.
7.Disclosure to a Quality
Assurance Committee
This provision enables staff to
disclose information to a quality
assurance committee.
C.HEALTH INFORMATION TO BE
PROTECTED
Protected health information (PHI)-is any information about health status,
provision of health care, or payment for
health care that is created or collected
by a "Covered Entity and can be linked
to a specific individual.
This is interpreted rather broadly and
includes any part of a patient's
medical record or payment history.
