How to De-mineralize?

De-mineralization technology is the process for treatment of water. A


DM Water System produces mineral free water by operating on the
principles of ion exchange, de-gasification and polishing. Demineralized
Water System finds wide application in the field of Power

Operating Principle :
Raw water is passed via two small polystyrene bead filled (ion
exchange resins) beds. While the cations get exchanged with
hydrogen ions in first bed, the anions are exchanged with
hydroxyl ions in second bed

Turbine Section
Steam turbines have been used
predominantly as prime mover in all
thermal power stations. The turbine
generator consists of a series of steam
turbines interconnected to each other
and a generator on a common shaft.
There is a high pressure turbine at one
end, followed by an intermediate
pressure turbine, low pressure turbines
and the generator.The steam at high
temperature (536 0c to 540 0c) and
pressure (140 to 170 kg/cm2) is
expanded in the turbine.

Boiler Section
A boiler is a closed vessel in which water under
pressure is transformed into steam by the
application of heat. In the boiler furnace, the
chemical energy in the fuel is converted into
heat and it is the function of the boiler to transfer
this heat to the contained water in the most
efficient manner. The boiler should also be
designed to generate high quality steam for
plant use.

Boiler Types:
Two principal types of boilers are used for industrial applications:
1. Fire tube boilers - Products of combustion pass through the tubes
surrounded by water.
2. Water tube boilers- Products of combustion pass around the tubes
containing water.

Function
Remove heat from the water discharged from the
condenser so that the water can be discharged to
the river or recirculated and reused. For the
purpose cooling water pumps need to be run
continuously.

Electro Static Precipitator (ESP)
It is used to remove ash particles from flue
gases. It uses the electrostatic precipitation
principle in which high voltage electrodes are
charged and discharged continuously. This will
effect to stick ash partials to electrodes, as
electrodes get discharged ash will get settled
down.
This ash is collected in fly ash storage bunker.
