BREAKING THE ICE

Before proceeding any further, lets break the ice by

introducing ourselves.

QUESTION OF THE DAY?

Why we are here?

It is not mere a training, you are already masters of your
subject.
However, we are here today to discuss what different
techniques, methods and approaches should be adopted in
conveying various topics in physics to increase student
learning.

WE LEARN FROM EXPERIENCES!

Lets have a look at the result and marks of our students

appeared this year in BISE Multan from different branches of
our school chain.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The aims of the physics course at secondary school level are to
enable student to:
Develop interest, motivation and sense of achievement in the
study of physics.
Develop the ability to describe and explain concepts, principles,
systems, processes and applications related to physics.
Develop the thinking process, imagination, ability to
problems, investigating and communication skills.

solve

Recognize the usefulness and limitations of scientific method and

the interaction between science, technology and society.

ACTIVITY 1.
Make a Bar Chart highlighting the importance of following while
delivering Lecture to students according to your personal
experience:

Class Involvement
Activity
Experiment
General Teaching
Oral Quizzes

METHODS/APPROACHES

Different topics/sections need different methodologies and

approached to be delivered.
Inductive method: From specific to general
Deductive method: From general to specific
Analytic approach: Anappropriateprocess to break a problem
down into the smaller pieces
Synthetic approach: The formulation of new understanding of
scientific systems

AUDIO/VISUAL AIDS

The use of audio-visual aids in education has been found to be

an effective way of communicating ideas and concepts to
students.
Literature has also established that audio-visual-aided
instruction has greatly improved the performance of students
in physics especially those with special needs and slow
learners abilities.
Students often benefit from the visual/sound appeal of audiovisual material because it tends to focus their attention on the
topic.

TYPES OF MOTION

Lets watch a video to put things in more interesting way.

CONFUCIUS SAID..

I hear and I forget.

I see and I remember.
I do and I understand.

DEMONSTRATIONS TECHNIQUES

Demonstrations provide a concrete visual way to help explain a

topic
Good lecture demonstrations are absolutely indispensable as
tools for helping students to relate physical concepts to the
real world.
Good lecture demonstrations also have the strength of being
memorable.

EFFECTS

A wow effect. When something unusual or unexpected is

happening it has a positive emotional effect on the students.
An I got it effect. When words are a week tool, demo can be
used to illustrate what we mean.
A start thinking effect.A demo can be used to start a
discussion, to pose a question.
An it works effect.A demo can be used to show that just the
theoretical prediction is working.

HOW TO DEMONSTRATE EXPERIMENTS IN

LAB
Craft a plan to demonstrate an experiment in lab
Show a video of that particular experiment to the students in
lab.
Perform the experiment in front of students.
Form group of 2 to 3 students and allow them to perform
experiments.

ACTIVITY 2:

Share your Strategy of Teaching given topics

Group 1. Newtons first law of Motion
Group 2. Hooks Law
Group 3. Kinetic and Potential Energy
Group 4. Snells Law
Group5. Torque

WHY WEIGHTAGE IS IMPORTANT

To maintain the standard of performance.
Apply different importance to separate categories .
Give students more incentives to excel in areas important with

respect to exams.
Helping students to get maximum marks
To increase student teacher focus.
