INTRODUCTION
The power transformer is the heart of the power system
and it must be protected.
This project suggests the solution for possible
improvement of power transformer protection using
artificial neural network(ANN).
A three layered feed forward neural network(FFNN) has
been trained to discriminate between internal faults ain
power transformer and other abnormalities such as
magnetising inrush currents, saturation of CTs and over
excitation of core.
The results obtained demonstrate the power of Artificial
Neural Network in classifying the faults and other
abnormal conditions.
Problem Statement:
Generally power transformer has
some faults internally by normal or
inrush over excitation and faults
externally. So, there is need for
protection by improving the sensing
units by introducing artificial neural
networks for transformer protection.
