How Direct Injection

Direct Injection Engine
Efficiency
Although direct injection produces
more power and efficiency, carbon
will accumulate on the intake valve
which over time will reduce the
flow of air into the cylinder, thus
reducing power. Because the fuel is
no longer sprayed on the intake
valve, which contains various
detergents and keeping a clean
input, a small amount of dirt from
incoming air, even with the air
filter that prevents most of the dirt
entering the cylinder, crusting on
the wall of feedback.
Direct Injection Engine Safety
and Reliability
In 1893, Rudolf Diesel determined to prove his theory
that a fuel could be made to burn by subjecting it to
extreme pressure, without an ignition source.
Furthermore, he demonstrated, the resulting energy
could be transferred to a machine for the purpose of
performing work. Diesel nearly killed himself
perfecting his method, which is known as
compression combustion. But it ultimately made him
a millionaire.
Components of a Direct
Injection Fuel System
FUNCTION
1. Fuel filter : Serves to filter out particle of dirt from the fuel.
2. Fuel supply : to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted supply of fuel to
other peripherals of an engine.
3. Fuel pump, high pressure : distribute fuel under low pressure to the
carburetor or to the fuel injection system under higher pressure.
4. Fuel rail : supplies fuel to the injectors, which are mounted directly on
it.
5. Fuel pressure regulator : used to maintain steady fuel supply, even
during dramatic changes in fuel demand.
The Working
of Direct
Injection
Steps Work
INTAKE STEP
Air enters through the suction valve, when the piston moves from
the TDC to the BDC. In this step the exhaust valve is closed.
COMPRESSION STEP
The piston moves from BDC to TDC, so that air is above the piston
becomes congested, the air pressure is high, and the air
temperature increases.
EFFORT STEP
Injector spray fuel in compressed air, resulting in an explosion.
Resulting in piston driven and moves from TDC to BDC, and there was a
effort step
EXHAUST STEP
The piston moves from BDC to TDC. Closed suction valves and
exhaust valves are open. the combustion residue is pushed out past
the exhaust valve.
