 Mastery Check
The Mastery Check is a final diagnostic. The idea
is that students do the Path Builder at the
beginning of the term, work through their
suggested modules and then complete the
Mastery Check at the end of the term.

The Path Builder and completed modules in the

Learning Path are what gives students "Mastery"
(gold stars beside their completed tasks). The
Mastery Check will confirm overall mastery. If a
student fails content on the Mastery Check, then
their mastery will be unchecked on the modules.
So, dont take Mastery Check too early and read
overviews for different modules before taking the
test. 19
The Big Picture
The Path Builder is a pre-test which sets
your learning needs (the modules you
need to study). The post-tests
demonstrate mastery within the sub-
topics of a module. The Skills Check
demonstrates your mastery within a
module. The Mastery Check is the final
post-test and is the one that
determines whether you have mastered
enough new material about writing.

effort to work through those
modules that are most relevant
for academic writing.
You do not need to master
module content related to MLA, 21
Grade Allocation for MWL
The student may choose which
modules, but the preferred list
includes: -Writing/Writing Process;
Writing w/Different Rhetorical
Strategies;
Writing Arguments;
Understanding Basic Grammar;
Composing Sentences;
Using Punctuation, Mechanics, Spelling;
Improving Language Usage/Style.
