PRESENTATION ON ATC UNIT AND

AUTOMATION

ON JOB TRAINING AT JAIPUR AIRPORT

PURPOSE TO STUDY ATC UNIT

From the CNS point of view one should know about ATC unit as the
ATCO are the end users.
All the equipments or indicator come under CNS maintenance
engineers.
Function of different ATC units
Tower

It provides the guidance to pilot during landing and take-off.


It provides the surface movement control.
It also provide en-route wind direction, wind speed, runaway orientation during
ATC Briefing.
It gives runway clearances

Frequency used in Tower: 124.3 MHz



Range: 25 NM
Approach

A unit which provides Air traffic control services to control flight within
25NM to 50NM.
Frequency Used: 125.25 MHz, 119.75MHz(back up)
Range: 50 NM.

Upper Harmonization: This facility will be like RCAG to extend


the VHF range.
With the commissioning of this facility it will help the Aircrafts
to move from Delhi to Mumbai without changing the frequency
when it is enroute over Jaipur.
System will work on the Area frequency of Delhi and thus will
help in extending the Area coverage of Delhi.

Orientation of Runway: 09-27(Old runway 15-33 now

used as parking way)

Runway Length: 2797m (Extra Length of 710m is to be


commissioned)

Runway Indication: PAPI Lights at both ends for VFR,


Runway Lights

Runway Instrument: Localizer installed at 27 end and


Glide path towards 09 end facilitating IFR for 27 landing. 09
landing is carried out with the help of visual aids only.
As runway length is to be extended, GP will be positioned to

new place.
Also localizer antenna is to be shifted to meet the critical

area requirement to meet the 75m coverage at the back side


of localizer which is at present only 32 m.
