How are heirloom varieties different?
From hybrids: these are specific crosses of two
distinct lines, having very uniform characteristics.
Seed from the F1 generation, when grown out,
exhibit wide variability and few come true to the
F1 type. Often bred for high performance under
optimum conditions, may not handle stress well.
