Introduction to Earthquake Engineering

Earthquake - geological phenomenon produced

by sudden release of energy
that generates seismic waves

Described by - accelerograms on Seismic data - readings performed

three directions in Seismic Stations
Objective: study the behavior of structures
under seismic loads

Static analysis

Conclusions

Steel elements, results obtained analytically are

identical as obtained in Finite Element

Moment capacity, computed analytically the same in

both of the approaches, good tool to use in the future

The way of defining the material behavior of concrete

and the way of modelling the rebars play a critical
role in the time efficiency of the analysis

High performance computer critical asset for

advanced structural engineering
