Seminar on
USE OF WASTE PLASTIC IN CONCRETE
PAVERS
GUIDED BY BY:- PRESENTED BY:-
PROF. V. K. RAHMAN NABEEL KHAN INAMDAR
INTRODUCTION

Increasing Consumption.
5 million tones in 1930 to 100 million
tones in recent times.
Hazardous to environment.
Recycling.
20% only is recycled.
Disposing problem.
Decrease the amount of plastic for longer
time.

2
APPLICATION

Various research and experiments have been done.

Has been used in Road construction on various places.
K.K Road in Bangalore is made up of waste plastic.
Waste plastic has been also used in concrete.

3
MATERIALS

CEMENT
OPC 43 Grade
cement is used.

SAND
Sand retaining on
2.5mm sieve.
4
COARSE
AGGREGATE
Responsible for
compressive strength.
Retaining on 4.75 mm
sieve is taken.

PLASTIC
AGGREGATE.
Replacement for coarse
aggregate.
Retaining on 4.75 mm
sieve.

5
LOW DENSITY
POLYETHYLENE
(LDPE).
Thermoplastic from
monomer ethylene.
POLYETHYLENE
TEREPTHALATE
(PET)
Thermoplastic polymer
resin.
Use of PET in bottles is
50% of total use of PET.

CONCLUSION

1. It is computed to use the 20% Recycled plastic

aggregate in concrete which does not affect the
properties of concrete.[1]
2. Using the plastic in concrete mix Reduces the weight
of cube by 15%.[1]
3. Density of concrete is reducing after 20% replacement
of coarse aggregate in a concrete.[2]
4. Compressive strength of concrete made from partial
replacement of plastic aggregate is satisfying M40 as
per I.S. Codes.[1]
5. Up to 20% replacement of plastic aggregate in a
traditional concrete is suitable.[3]
