FACE RECOGNITION IN GENERAL:
A face recognition system is a computer application capable of identifying or
verifying a person from a digital image or a video frame from a video source.
One of the ways to do this is by comparing selected facial features from the
image and a face data base
FACE RECOGNITION TYPES:
Face recognition is a general topic that includes following
Face verification (1:1 matching)
Face identification(1:N matching)
Face verification: It is concerned with validating a claimed identity based on
the image of face, and either accepting or rejecting the identity claim(one-to-
one matching).
Face identification: The goal in this is to identify a person base don the image
of a face. This face image has to be compared with all registered persons (one-
to-many matching).
INTRODUCTION:
Now a days the popularity of social networks like face book, twitter are mostly
used by the people. Many of them use human face images to their profile. And
also we can maintain large scale database for the image storage.
To avoid the large database use two algorithms like attribute enhanced sparse
code words and attribute embedded inverted indexing and used in offline and
online storage respectively. In large image database have problem regarding the
image retrieval .
By using this algorithm we can efficiently retrieve the images from the large
image database. It will give the 80% perfect matched images.
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of my project is to use Attribute enhanced sparse coding and
Attribute inverted indexing to improve face retrieval in both offline and online
stages.
This can be achieved by combining both low level and high level features and
by employing expressible visual attributes for face verification and image search.
EXISTING SYSTEM:
Traditional methods for face image retrieval usually use low-level features to
represent faces.
But low-level features are lack of semantic meanings and face images usually
have high intra-class variance (e.g., expression, posing), So the retrieval results
are unsatisfactory .
DISADVANTAGES:
For the big dataset this produces less accuracy result.
This is not dynamically decide the importance of the attributes.
Due to high intra-class variance(e.g., expression , posing) the retrieval results are
unsatisfactory.
PROPOSED SYSTEM:
To tackle this problem, we proposed to use identity constrained sparse coding,
but these methods might require clean training data and massive human
annotations.
In this method we combine both low level and high level features to get
efficient retrieval.
In order to evaluate the performance of proposed method, we conduct
extensive experiments on JAFFEE.
The face retrieval is improved 43.55% by including Local Binary Patterns(LBP)
and Sparse coding to the existing system

QUERY IMAGE: Its the image which we are giving to search in the database.

FACE IMAGE DATASET: In order to evaluate the performance of proposed method,

we conduct extensive experiments on JAFFEE. This dataset consists of female photos
with different expressions
PROCESSINGPRE : In pre processing for every image in dataset we apply Viola-Jones
algorithm for face detection and to solve the common problems in face images ie
lighting variations.
Local binary Patterns: The detected face is divided into patches ie. eyes, nose,
mouth. LBP feature is used to extract the features from those grids. LBP is a simple
and efficient texture operator which labels the pixels of an image by thresholding the
neighborhood of each pixel and considers the result as binary number.

ATTRIBUTE ENHANCED SPARSE CODING: It describes automatic detection of

human attribute from the image and also create the different sparse coding.

ATTRIBUTE EMBEDDED INVERTED INDEXING: It collects the sparse codes from

attribute enhanced sparse coding and check the code words with online feature
database and retrieve the related images similar to the query image
APPLICATIONS:
Face biometrics have the potential to be integrated anywhere you can find a
modern camera.
Law enforcement agencies use biometric software to scan faces in CCTV
footages
Boarder control deployments use face recognition to verify the identities of
travelers
Advantages:
This attributes do higher within the high detection rate
The call in error rates from machine to human labels is really increasing with
additional attributes.
Adding additional attributes improves accuracies of result.
