ANGLE GAUGES
Similar to slip gauges.
Can be built up to give a required
angle.
There are 13 gauges. The gauges are
divided into 3 series degrees, minutes
and fractions.
10, 30, 90, 270, 410
1, 3, 9, 27
0.05, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 (3, 6, 18, 30)
ANGLE GAUGES
Direct combination enables any angle upto
81040.95 to be made up.
Larger angles can be made up with the help of a
square block.
By suitable combination (addition and subtraction)
it is possible to set any angle to the nearest 3.

SINE BAR
Based on sine principle ratio of length of two
sides of a right triangle
Used in conjunction with a datum (surface plate)
and other auxiliary equipment (slip gauges)
Made from high carbon, high chromium, corrosion
resistant
steel which is hardened, stabilised and ground.
SINE BAR design
requirements
The two rollers must have equal
diameter and be true geometric
cylinders.
The rollers must be set parallel to each
other and to the upper face.
The precise centre distance between
the rollers must be known.
The upper face must have a high
degree of flatness.

SPIRIT LEVEL
A glass tube having a bore with a large radius.
If liquid (ether) almost fills the tube, the bubble in
the liquid will always lie at the highest position in
the tube.
Scale engraved on the glass at the top of the tube.
Glass tube is mounted on the upper part of a body
with a flat base.
When the tube is tilted through a small angle the
bubble will move along the tube through a certain
distance depending upon the angle of tilt.
SPIRIT LEVEL
Displacement of the bubble in the glass tube d
=R
R radius of curvature of the inside surface of the
glass tube
angle of tilt in radians
Sensitivity of a spirit level is defined as the angle
of tilt which will move the bubble through one
division of the scale and is expressed in seconds
per division.
The graduations are generally at 2.5 mm intervals
and these represent a tilt of 10 seconds. R =
51.5 m
