Service

Sending a short text message from one cell phone to

another is called as Short Messaging Service.
One has to go to the Messages option in the handset to
send a message.
160 characters is considered as 1 Message. Characters
includes punctuation marks . , : ! Etc. even space is
considered as a character.
If the message is longer than 160 characters, then it is
sent as 2 or more messages.

Q. Can a US wireless subscriber Originate a message to an Airtel subscriber.

A. Yes, the US wireless subscriber will have to send the message to Airtelphone@irisme.net

Q. The US subscribers have subscribed for SMS but s/he still does not receive my SMS.
A. The person in the US has to choose the reply by email option on his/her cell phone to
reply a SMS sent from Airtel subscriber in India. But incase he is still unable to reply, please
provide us with the US number of whom you are sending this message to and we will get
back to you within 12 hours.
