HOW TO PREPARE FOR EXAMS

Write your own study notes dont use someone elses notes, or try to use the slides as notes

The act of writing down your study notes is what helps you to remember the work its actually
not so much about reading the notes afterwards

If possible, try to discuss and argue some of the more important points with friends

If you can explain the work to someone else, that means you understand it

Try to package information in a way that makes it easier to remember in the exam

SECTION C: POSSIBLE ESSAY TOPIC #2

Kenyan Author, Ngg wa Thiongo asserts the following in his book; Decolonising the Mind, The
Politics of Language in African Literature:

The present predicaments of Africa are often not a matter of personal choice: they arise from a
historical situation. Their solutions are not so much a matter of personal decision as that of a
fundamental social transformation of the structures of our societies starting with a real break from
imperialism and its internal ruling elites. Imperialism and its comprador alliances in Africa can
never develop the continent.

Do you think this statement is an accurate reading of post-independence Africa? Motivate.

SECTION C: POSSIBLE ESSAY TOPIC #3

Alexander Haig, a former US Secretary of State under the Reagan administration has been quoted
to have said:

To declare the Cold War over, and declare Democracy has won out over Totalitarianism, is a
measure of arrogance and wrong-headedness
