What is Systole?
What is Diastole?
From The Previous Lesson

Systole: The time period when

the heart is contracting.

Diastole: The time period when the
heart is in a state of relaxation and
dilatation (expansion).

Dilatation: The process of

enlargement or expansion.

In a blood pressure reading, the
systolic pressure is typically the first
number recorded.
For example,
with a blood pressure of 120/80 ("120
over 80"), the systolic pressure is 120.
By "120" is meant 120 mm Hg
(millimeters of mercury).

Systolic Pressure
The systolic pressure is when the
hearts beats and pumps blood

Diastolic Pressure

Diastolic pressure is when the

heart is at a rest between beats

Detect
Pressure
By: Alwin 14
Blood pressure regulated during vigorous exercise

-blood pressure increase

-blood flow at faster rate
-baroreceptors stimulated (detect high BP)
-impuls sent (cardiovascular centre)
-CC sent impuls to Heart
-weakens contraction of cardiac muscle
-CC also sent impuls sent to smooth muscles to relax

-arteries will dilate [mengembang] (vasodilation)

-blood pressure back to normal
