Compassion

Matthew 9:35-38
Compassion
=
Love
Matthew 9:35-38
35 And Jesus went throughout all the
cities and villages, teaching in their
synagogues and proclaiming the
gospel of the kingdom and healing
every disease and every affliction. 36
When he saw the crowds, he had
compassion for them, because they
were harassed and
helpless, like sheep
without a shepherd.
Matthew 9:35-38

37 Then he said to his disciples, "The

harvest is plentiful, but the laborers
are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly
to the Lord of the harvest to send out
laborers into his harvest."
Pray and
demonstrate
compassion for
the lost.

ultimate example
of one who had

Where shall we
go to
demonstrate
compassion?
Go to where the
people are!
Pray and

compassion for
the lost.

How can we
demonstrate
compassion?
1) Go to where the
people are!
2) Observe and pray for
what you can do.
3) Boldly show someone
that you care.

How would you
react when you
see the following
eyes ?
Will we respond
with compassion
towards different
kinds of people?
Will we see them as
harassed and
helpless, like sheep
without a shepherd?
Pray and
demonstrate
compassion for
the lost.
How did Jesus
pass on His
compassion to
others?

Why don't we show
compassion for the
lost???
We don't really love God & feel
the love He has for people.
We don't understand the
seriousness of hell.
We are too busy and preoccupied
with our own lives.
We don't sense the urgency to do
so.
We're too "inward-focused", "self-
focused", or outright "self-
centered."
The enemy has deceived us and
distracted us from the goal.
We're afraid to take the risk.
Let us confess our
sin of indifference,
complacency, and
selfishness.
How can GCF West
as a church show
compassion for the
lost?
How can you,
individually, show
compassion for the
lost?
Show your seatmate
a picture of
someone in your life
who needs the Lord.
People Need the
Lord
Pray for that person
and ask the Lord for
boldness to show
compassion.
Pray and
demonstrate
compassion for
the lost.
