LEADERSHIP STUDY

Mary Brownrigg

A little about the school
Part of an ISD, center based program.
Services students around the north side of the
county, ages 3-26 years old.
Every student has a cognitive impairement.
Three different categories of classrooms: MOCI
(Moderately Cognitvely Impaired) SCI (Severely
Cognitively Impaired) and SXI (Severely Multiply
Impaired)
Over 300 students, 100 staff members (teachers
and paraprofessionals, 2 Administrators
Schools History
Recently celebrated the 40th Anniversary, Opened
its doors in 1973, at the time when the mental
institutions started to close.
Students from the mental institutions came to our
school with severe behavior issues.
We still have behavior issues, but not as severe
Administration
In the last 5 years, we have experiences several
leadership changes.
There have been 3 different principals and 4
different assistant principals since I have started.

Most recent principal- Laissez-Faire
Morale at our school is at an all-time low.
No motivation and a lot of complaining.
Methodolgy
Surveyed 3 different groups of stakeholders
(Teachers, Administration, and Parents)
Used the same survey for each group.
Surveyed 5 people from each group.

Reflection
I thought this research was very intriguing. The only
group that had 100% agreement was the parent
group who thought thoe most imporant ISLCC was
Shared Vision with All Stakeholders.
All of the groups varied on what they thought was
the most important and what was least important.
