The house of Carreras
- It started in London in 1788
- For many years this company was a
fashionable
Tobacco and snuff house.
- Lord cavern after many experiments and
great deals produced himself a tobacco mixture
which carreras blended.
- After his death, this mixture was sold to
public under the name of craven mixture
After that..
-Imperial tobacco had its eye on
this Calcutta factory ,along with
the use of carreras trade
mark.
-Carreras fortunately were able
to lease one of the new
godowns in kidderpore to meet
the requirements of cigarettes
&tobacco factory.
In 1934..
-Carreras(India) Limited was
registered in Calcutta in 1934.
-It took one& half more years
for carreras(India) to agree to
sell the machinery & stocks to
its Calcutta factory to
Cigarette Manufacturing
(India) Limited , a company
that was formed in 1935.
Kidderpore Factory : The Scissors Factory
Inspite of 1943 agreement ,carreras were
1935 loath to part with the formulae ,recipes of
Establishe preparation, treatments and manufacture for
d 7Acers any of their brands.

Carreras did not actually refuse to
handover these over, the recipes were
nevertheless not forthcoming .

craven a filters ,which had been the

immediate bone connection & Imperial
Tobacco desisted from insisting on their
uring 4060sq.mts disclosure of the blend.

ITC was incorporated on August 24, 1910
under the name Imperial Tobacco
Company of India Limited. As the
Company's ownership progressively
Indianized, the name of the Company
was changed from Imperial Tobacco
Company of India Limited to India
Tobacco Company Limited in 1970 and
then to I.T.C. Limited in 1974

Kidderpore factory became one of the

main producers of the scissors brand of
cigarettes, and indeed , sporting a weather
cock in the shape of pair of scissors . It
came to be known in local parlance as the
scissors factory

THE TOOL TALE FROM YEAR 1960-1980:

Stand alone type of machine ,there was no
hard linkup between the maker &plug
assembly machine.
During 1970 another plug assembly or
filter assembly machine was introduced
from Czechoslovakia Company called
SKODA model no CF3A.
The combination stayed for a longer
period .
MAX a Haunimax German manufactured
machine. Since the hard linkup was
already established ,the MAX machine
attachment with hard linkup remained.
Few changes:
Mark III & Mark IV gradually Mark V
swept in & again linked with SKODA
Filter assembly machine .
Mark 8 was introduced in 80s.
During 1992-
93:
Kidderpore factory was going
through a bad phase of industrial
relation & due to negative approach
of the workmen.
Development plan was couldnt be
reinforced and once again factory
went back to the era of making
plain cigarettes.

linked up with MK8 till date.
