Language Keyboard for Android Device
 Texting (SMS) is the essence of mobile
communication and connectivity, as evidenced
by todays teenagers, tomorrows workforce.
SMS is hugely popular in India, where
youngsters often exchange lots of text
messages, and companies provide alerts,
infotainment, news, cricket scores updates,
railway/airline booking, mobile billing, and
banking services on SMS.
Arguably, todays technologies support mobile
text input poorly for Indian languages.
 According to 2005 Indian Human Development
Survey, only 4% of Indians are fluent in English.
To connect these 96% of users to the global
mobile community, we need to design effective
and efficient localized keyboard for text input
on mobile devices.
CALTS mAta is the keyboard for Android
devices which can bridge to fill the gap.
 This keyboard which can support all the 9
scripts and 23 language of India

Text can be directly uploaded to any mailing or

message service, since characters used are
UNICODE.

Less number of keys that lowers the typo errors
considerably.(Almost all apps)
Organizing of keys makes typing faster.
Can be used as default Input method editor
Characters are arranged in two layers where the
second layer is invoked by pressing Shift-key.
Easy shifting between the two layers.

Vowel and consonantal diacritics are automatically
formed.

CALTS-mAta is a versatile input method which makes
your typing very Fast & easy on phones & tablets.
Switching between other language keyboard is very
easy.
Symbols and digits are invoked by pressing the <123>
button

Short vowels, non-aspirated characters are placed in
First layer whereas Long vowels and aspirated
characters are placed in Second layer.

How to Install
Download CALTS-mAta from google playstore or from
www.caltslab.uohyd.ernet.in and install this application
accordingly on your phone.
An Icon is created.
Click on the icon to open the application, then goto
"" click on settings "Language &
input/Locale & text" select CALTS-mAta and
mark check box to Green.
Now go to "Settings""Language & input/Locale &
text" set Default Keyboard/ Input Method as
CALTS-mAta.
Now the Keyboard is ready for use.
