Purpose
The advantages of the EFACH are restricted by the uplink
RACH.
The RACH can transmit only a small volume of data, and the
uplink rate is limited.
If there is a large volume of uplink data to be transmitted, the data must
be handed over to the DCH. This causes the transmission delay to
increase.

Gains of the ERACH feature

A higher uplink rate can be attained.
The delay in the user plane and control plane in the IDLE, CELL_FACH,
CELL_PCH, and URA_PCH states can be shortened.

Design and Implementation Method
Gains are achieved in the following scenarios:
In the scenario where the RACH coverage is not limited, the peak rate
and quality of service (QoS) of the uplink E-RACH are higher than
those of the RACH.
In the scenario where the RACH coverage is limited, the E-RACH can
be used as a supplement to the RACH to improve the uplink coverage.

This function depends on the following features:

Enhanced uplink and downlink for L2

EFACH

UERACHBASIC
CommonEdchTTISelect
Description: common Edch TTI

Impacts on the performance of the radio network:

If it is 2 ms, a higher uplink rate can be attained, but the uplink

coverage becomes poor.
If it is 10 ms, the uplink coverage is enlarged, but the extreme rate is
limited to 2 Mbit/s.
Recommended value: TTI_10MS
