Wood is the Raw material of the people of the Cordillera
Region in Manufacturing of almost all their possesions. Bamboo is also used together with clay, bronze,brass and iron. The Cordillera Art can be divided into two types: the Decorative and the Ritualistic or Magical. Shields, containers are examples of the decorative type while Bulol and other religious images belong to the ritualistic type. The technique by which the cordillera region artist transform raw materials into works of art make them distinctive as people. Rhythm symmetry and persistence is said to be the technique of mastery of the artist specially those from Ifugao and Bontoc. Cordillera region art specially in wood carving can be The portrayal of human form is profusely illustrated in various postures and degrees of abstraction such as standing or squatting or with arms straight or cross etc. This portrayal is found mainly in Bontoc, Ifugao and Ibaloi. The portrayal of animal motifs is widespread in woodcarving, blanket designs and bamboo incisions such as reptiles and that of pigs and plant motifs. Non figurative art is also found in the shapes and designs on shields, spears and head axes. This objects make effective use of the elements of rhythm and symmetry. Adoration in gods and supernatural beings were expressed through the rituals and art of the cordillera in general.
