INTRODUCTION
Stroke is a multifactorial disease called
Risk Factor
One of the stroke risk factors is
Periodontitis
Periodontitis is a Local infection which
cause systemic infection in blood
vessel
2
Infection in artery blood vessel caused to form
artery plaque
Plaque causes artery wall become thick and
rough, blood will coagulate and stagnant
thrombosis blood flow becomes slow and
lack of O2 in cerebral brain defect
Or release of plaque emboli in
cerebral/artery cerebri STROKE
3
One of the caused of missing teeth is Periodontal
Disease
Missing teeth diet change lack of fruit/fiber
hypercholesterolemy arteriosclerosis STROKE
or
Missing teeth increasing gaster intestinal process in
grinding food digestinal enzyme lipoprotein is
needed in big number LPL enzyme reduce in blood
arteriosclerosis stroke

LITERATURE REVIEW
Stroke is :
Clinical syndrome that appears and develops
fast, caused by disturbed cerebral function, in 24
hours and could cause sudden dead, caused only
by vascular problem, not trauma, infection or
tumor
5
Ischemic stroke = nonhaemoragic stroke is
stroke marked with cerebral CT-Scan that shows
hipodens/isodens with health brain and no
hyperdens lession or other pathologic found, i.e.:
tumor.
6
Many years ago, people perceived that stroke
was caused by calcification of vessel blood
affected by hypercalcium.
With the development of science and
technology, it is known that stoke is caused by
increasing fat level (cholesterol and triglyceride)
in blood
Excessive of fat plaque obstruct blood
flow
7
Artery plaque
is accumulation of fat, including cholesterol,
triglyceride and calcium and blood components
like fibrin and thrombocyt.
9
The risk factor of arteriosclerosis (Buei, 1997)
there are two :
10
Blood flow obstruction will cause a serious effect
of health because the blood is the only
transportation means that take oxygen and
nutrition to whole body.

DISCUSSION
15
Taylor at al (2006) found that periodontal
disease and tooth loss are associated with
cardiovascular disease risk.
Joshipura at al (2002) found that there is a
correlation between periodontal disease and
number of tooth loss and stroke risk.
16
Rose Louis at al (2002) found that poor oral
condition is associated with cardiovascular
disease and stroke.
Desvarieux at al (2003) found correlation
between periodontal disease, tooth loss, and risk
of artery plaque disease.
17
CONCLUSION
Periodontitis is a local inflammation but could cause a
systemic inflammation in artery blood vessel and cause
arteriosclerosis which can obstruct blood flow to
cerebral stroke
Tooth loss could cause gaster works harder in grinding
food, stimulate more LPL enzyme to gaster and reduce
LPL enzyme level in blood (deficiency)
arteriosclerosis stroke
