Vascular Damage from
Oxidized Cholesterol
Oxidized cholesterol fed to rabbits and monkeys
produced dramatic vascular damage within 24
hours.

Pure, non-oxidized cholesterol produced

no vascular damage.
Foods Containing Harmful
Cholesterol By-Products
Sources of the most harmful cholesterol to monkey aortas are:

1. Custard mixes
2. Pancake mixes
3. Parmesan Cheese
4. Lard
Especially Harmful
Especially harmful are the custards
and puddings in which milk, eggs, and
sugar are the chief ingredients. The
free use of milk and sugar together
should be avoided.

Frequency of Eating Nuts

Almonds Preferable to Peanuts
With nuts may be combined grains, fruits, and some
roots, to make foods that are healthful and nourishing.
Care should be taken, however, not to use too large a
proportion of nuts.

...some nuts are not so wholesome as others. Almonds

are preferable to peanuts, but peanuts in limited
quantities, used in connection with grains, are
nourishing and digestible.

Ellen G White. The Ministry of Healing. Pg. 298.

Switch to Margarine?
Women who eat 4 or more teaspoons of
margarine a day have a 66 percent greater risk
of heart disease than women who have
margarine less than once a month.
The trans-fatty acid levels in margarine seem
to be the problem.
Vegetable oils should be used in their natural
state, said the lead researcher.

Vitamin E Protects Against
Heart Disease
A total of 40,000 men were categorized

intake.

consumed.

The Superior Diet

Grains, fruits, nuts, and

vegetables constitute the diet
chosen for us by our Creator.
These foods, prepared in as
simple and natural a manner as
possible, are the most healthful
and nourishing.

A Host of Benefits of the Total
Vegetarian Diet
Zero cholesterol
Low saturated fat
High fiber
Zero animal protein
Zero heme iron
Rich in antioxidants
Rich in folic acid and B6
Promotes weight control
Diderots Proverb
Doctors are always working to preserve
our health and cooks to destroy it. But the
latter are often the more successful.
Counsel on Diet and Foods 460
Let our people discard all unwholesome
recipes.
Let them learn how to live healthfully,
teaching to others what they have learned.
Let them impart this knowledge as they
would Bible instruction.
By precept and example make it plain that
the food which God gave Adam in his
sinless state is the best for man's use as he
seeks to regain that sinless state.
10 Commandments for
Prevention of Heart Attack
1. Stop Smoking. Smokers tend to eat more
poorly than non-smokers.
2. Keep your Blood Pressure Down. What
used to be described as borderline is now
called Stage 1 Hypertension.
3. Avoid eating animal products.

10 Commandments for
Prevention of Heart Attack
4. Eat largely of preventive foodsfruits and
vegetables, nuts, whole grains.
Those who consume nuts had half the risk of heart
attack
Those who ate whole wheat bread had 40% lower
risk of heart attack than those on white bread
Homocysteinemia, which is an indicator of increased
heart attack risk, is due to lack of folic acid,
vitamin B6, and/or vitamin B12. Folic acid and
vitamin B6 are mainly found in vegetables,
legumes and other plant foods.
10 Commandments for
Prevention of Heart Attack
5. Exercise. Those who walk 2 or more
miles a day have half the mortality rate of
heart disease.
6. Reduce weight if overweight.
7. Keep your blood sugar down.
Atherosclerosis increases from a blood glucose of 85
and above.
10 Commandments for Prevention of
Heart Attack
8. Avoid alcohol.
9. Have a healthy mental outlook.
A merry heart doeth good like medicine.
Proverbs 17:22
10. Keep your immunity up.
Avoid bad habits
Get on a good exercise program
Get adequate rest.

The most important thing is to switch to a vegetarian

diet and get as much cholesterol out of your diet as
possible.
