 Summary
This article is talking about the application of new technology in English
language so that students will be motivated and communicate with each
other. Roles and goals of an ESL teacher also been discussed. Young
learner need to understand the gist of activity and a teacher should have
a clear, fair and consistent rules deal with young learners. Some
challenges faced by the ESL teachers are children have shorter attention
span than adult, little exposure to English, need more time to mentally
translation, limited amount of knowledge, students keep speaking their
native language and to keep students excited and motivated during the
class. Some tips are recommended such as teachers need to provide
conducive environment for students, be creative to handle the classroom,
give motivation and encouragement to students, focus on fluency rather
than accuracy and have a planned lesson that insists fun learning concept.
An effective ESL teacher is someone who possesses a lot of patience, give
positive guideline to help students instead coddle them, shares ideas and
tools and teach with passion and earnestness.
