Brief History of Trumps Tax Plan
Tax reform (and tax cuts) were a big part of the 2017 presidential campaign,
especially during the Republican primary.
12 candidates released rather detailed tax reform proposals.
Most Republican plans:
Cut the corporate tax rate
Cut top marginal tax rate
Broaden the tax base (SALT deduction, business tax expenditures)
Eliminate the Estate and Gift taxes
Reduce the progressivity of the tax code
Significantly reduce federal revenues
Eliminate the Alternative Minimum Tax

Brief History of Trumps Tax Plan
2015 2017
The Trump Administration released an
updated tax plan in April 2017.
12 bullet points, laying out goals. Very
few details: not enough to actually figure
out the fiscal and economic impact
(where are the tax brackets???)
Keeps some of the important features of
the original plans: 15% corporate and
business rate, no estate tax, eliminate
state and local tax deduction
