What is the Flipped Classroom model?
At home, students use videos and other digital
content created or assigned by the teacher to
learn a
new concept. Students will watch instructional
videos at home and use classroom time to apply
their
knowledge with more individualized attention from
the teacher. Students will complete assignments
related to material in order to participate in the
class activity the following day.
Benefits of using the Flipped Classroom:
21st century learning aligns with Common Core
State Standards
Increased student and teacher interaction
Lessons can be repeated, paused and rewound
as needed
Students pay closer attention to detail
Increased hands on learning time in class
Lessons can be viewed by absent students
Parents can view the lesson and learn along with
their child
Increased savings on school and supplies
How will homework be done? Homework will be to
view instructional videos that the teacher has
assigned. These clear and concise videos are between
5 - 15 minutes in length and will introduce your child to
new concepts/material for class. Students will become
active learners. While viewing the videos, students
may pause and rewind as needed to write something
down or hear information again. Your child will have an
opportunity to show their understanding of the new
concept when they return to the classroom the next
day. Students will take guided notes and answer review
questions in a graphic organizer provided
