Course Objectives
learn the concept and philosophy of Judicial Dispute
Resolution (JDR) and have a clear understanding of
the provisions of the Revised JDR Guidelines;

distinguish JDR from other forms of dispute


resolution and know its advantages;

learn and practice the skills required to settle


disputes through mediation, interest-based
conciliation, and neutral evaluation; and

identify and explore the issues that impact on


conflict and settlement (power imbalance, gender
dynamics, ethical, social, cultural, and others).

New Certified JDR Judges


What to expect after the
JDR Training
Unless otherwise directed by the Supreme Court,
all judges who have undergone orientation in
JDR procedures and completed their training
in mediation, conciliation and neutral evaluation,
are authorized to conduct JDR proceedings in
accordance with these guidelines for the settlement
of disputes pending in their courts, after the parties
failed to settle their disputes during Court Annexed
Mediation at the Philippine Mediation Center
Units (PMCU). (Consolidated and Revised Guidelines to
Implement the Expanded Coverage of CAM and JDR)
Only a CERTIFIED
JDR TRAINED JUDGE
can conduct JDR
in a JDR declared area.

What to do during Inventory Period

Conduct an inventory of cases in your respective


dockets and select 20+ mediatable cases which
have undergone CAM but were not settled and are
still in the pre-trial stage
What to do during Internship Period

Retain the selected cases that were unsuccessfully


mediated and conduct JDR.
If efforts to settle any of the said cases through
JDR process fail during this period, the unsettled
cases shall be re-raffled to another court for trial.

Allow peer-to-peer advise or assistance from JDR


practitioners at the option of the JDR judge
concerned.
What to do during Internship Period

Enjoin the Clerks of Court to see to it that orders or


notices are promptly issued and served to the
parties for them to appear on the dates their cases
are scheduled for JDR

Allow the JDR Staff (PMC Staff ) to periodically


coordinate with all the judges and/or branch clerks
of court for the purpose of monitoring all cases and
to submit a JDR Report to the PMCO
