ADIABATIC REACTOR
The reactors CSTR, PFR and BATCH could be
an adiabatic reactor. We say that a reactor is
adiabatic when there isnt heat transfer

Adiabatic batch reactor

This tell us that there is no type of energy

exchange
The adiabatic reactor is not so much a type, more a
way of operation.
An increase in temperature will decrease the
equilibrium extent of an exothermic reaction. Yet to
perform the exothermic reaction adiabatically is to
induce a temperature increase. Similarly, an
endothermic reaction has poorer equilibrium
conversion at a lower temperature, and the
temperature falls if it is allowed to proceed
adiabatically.
Adiabatic operation, involving no heat transfer
equipment within the reactor, is so attractive for its
simplicity that it is worth more careful examination.
ADIABATIC WALL
Inthermodynamics an adiabatic wall is a
wall that does not allow the transfer of
heat from one side to another. An
adiabatic wall does not let out or enter
any heat.

THE ADIABATIC TUBULAR OR BATCH
REACTOR
For a batch reactor the very definition of reaction rate
gives the equation

From an enthalpy balance for the adiabatic operation

Hence we again have the adiabatic path
