Language is Structure- Dependent
A principle common to all languages: Syntax is more
than meaning
Chomsky asserts that knowledge of language relies on
the structural relationships in the sentence rather than on
the sequence of words
Example:
The component that determines the properties of the constituent is the head, and the
constituent can be referred to as a phrase: e.g. noun phrase
