differentiate Destination from Attraction?
z

Destination Destination defined as the

VS. main location that travelers
Attraction intend to visit, while attractions
are the pocket activities and/or
places that visitors do and see
respectively, once at
destination
z
One way to clear their definitions is that attractions can
be found in the destination, unless the destination and
the attraction are one and the same.

z

z
URBAN DESTINATION

The urban destination is a city destination with all

its trimmings and modern facilities. It is normally
the gateway to the locality, region, or country that
is center of economic activities and infrastructure
development.
Almost everything is artificial except for
occasional plants in landscapes. Wildlife can also
be seen if animals are kept in zoos located in
prominent areas in the city
z
RURAL DESTINATION

In the natural destination, the strength lies in

the physical, natural environment. These are
the hills, mountains, lakes, rivers, natural
landscapes, and other similar remote areas.
Sometimes, rural destinations may also
include the farmed environments or natural
looking environs but were prepared by man
primarily for agricultural purpose or gains.
z
Coastal Destination

The coastal destination, as the classification

clearly indicates, is found in coastal areas,
where one can find beaches, ranging from
calm seashores to raging oceans. In the
destination like Philippines, a coastal
destination is not big deal because the
country is archipelago made up of over 7000
islands and numerous shores to choose
from.
z
Destination Management Organization

The Destination Management Organization or DMO was formerly

known as the Destination Marketing Organization. Back then the
focus of DMO was to come up with marketing campaigns to help
sell the destination as a whole.

An example of a DMO is the Department of Tourism. Locally and

internationally, it is recognized authority in Philippine Tourism.
