Q3 : How might flexible work affect a companys bottom line ?

Based on the case :
Marisaa Mayer did point out that flexible work
arrangement may affect workers to become detached
from the organization, and communicating less by being
less available, however if flexible work arrangement is
implemented carefully as Veronica Wooten demonstrated
with her positive statistics: 20% increase in customers
base, 50% less meetings, and 12% decrease in expenses.
Then I think that flexible work arrangement could affect
the companys bottom line in a positive way if
implemented carefully.
How ? (Positively)
Recruitment and retention Companies can attract high caliber job
applicants if they offer flexible working. A PricewaterhouseCoopers
(PwC) survey found that flexible working is now more highly-valued by
both men and women ahead of bonuses. Empowering staff to work
remotely might allows employer to employ a highly-qualified applicant
who lives too far away to commute, working father and mother or even
single workers.
Cost savings Flexible working can save money in many ways including
lower pro-rata salary and benefits packages. If you have more than one
employee working flexibly they can share desk space reducing
overheads and allowing you to grow your business without needing
more office space. Staff working from home can reduce office costs
further.

Reduce absenteeism A survey by the Chartered Institute of Personnel


and Development (CIPD) and Simplyhealth in 2016 said stress had
become the number one cause of long-term workplace absence.
Employees working flexibly are less likely to be affected by stress.
(Negatively)

Office-oriented people sometimes view their work-at-home


colleagues as slackers because they can't physically see their
productivity.
Some people take advantage of flexible work hours. For
instance, playing and having fun while doing work at the same
time. This can affect the concentration of the employee while
doing their jobs and can cause errors.
Working from home gives a wrong idea within the society that
you are not working. This can cause misunderstanding with
you and your relatives, neighbours or friends.
