Rizal’s

Childhood
 The happiest period of his life was truly
his childhood days in his natal town ( the
cradle of a genius).
 “Un Recuerdo A mi Pueblo” ( In
memory of my town)
- This poem was written on 1876, when he
was 15 years of age.
- It talks about
First Childhood memory

RIZAL was 3 years of age

 He spent his happy days in their family


garden.

 Rizal receive the tenderest care of his parents because


he was frail, sickly and undersized child back then.

 Because of his health issue, an AYA was employed to look for his
comfort .

 AYA Is a term they use for nurse


maids
Second childhood memory

 the daily angelus prayer


which they were doing
every nightfall, it is
where all the children at
the house was gathered.

 The happy moonlit


nights in azotea after the
nightly rosary, the aya
told them many stories
about fairies and other
fabulous stories.
Third childhood memory

 The Nocturnal walk in town, also the AYA took him for a walk in the
moonlight by the river, where the trees cast grotesque shadows on the
bank.

While recounthing this childhood


experience, Rizal wrote:

“ thus my heart fed on sombre


and melancholy thoughts so that
even while still a child, I already
wondered on wings of fantasy in
the high regions of the unkown.”
First Sorrow of Rizal

 Of his sisters, Jose loved most the little


concha(conception), and because of her he learned
the sweetness of brotherly love.

 This was when


Concha(Conception)
died on 1865 at the
age of three,
because of sickness.
Rizal felt his first
Sorrow.
Devoted Son of Church

 At the age of three, he began to take part in the family prayer


 At the age of five he was able to read haltingly the spanish family
bible.

 Evidences of his fervent catholic spirit is seen in the poems which he wrote
during his boyhood, such as :
a. Al Nino Jesus (1876)
b. La Alianza Intima Entre La Religion y La Buena Educacion(1876)
c. A La Virgen Maria
Early Education of Rizal

 His First teacher was his Mother, Rizal learned the alphabet and
prayers from her.

Three uncles of him who played great part in his early education:

 Gregorio Alonso
- he instilled into the mind of Rizal a great love for books.
 Jose Alonso
- he encouraged Rizal to paint, sketch, and scupture.
 Manuel Alberto Alonso
- he encouraged Rizal to learn swimming, fencing, wrestling, and
other sports so that Rizal’s frail body will acquire agility, endurance and
strength.
Prodigy of the pen

 Rizal was a born poet, so at early age he wrote a poem


entitled:
“Sa aking mga Kababata”( to my fellow children).

He wrote it in an appel to our people to love our national


language

 At the age of 8, he wrote a tagalog drama which is


connected with the town fiesta.
 gobernador cillo of paete bought the manuscript
from Rizal for 2 pesos. And had it staged during
the fiesta celebration
Influences in Hero’s BoyHood

 Herdetary Influence
 According to biological science, there are inherent
traits or qualities which a person inherits from his
ancestors and parents.

 Environmental Influences

 the scenic beauty of calamba and the beautiful garden of


Rizals family stimulated the inborn artistic and literary
talents of Jose rizal.
 The religious atmosphere at his home fortified his religious
nature.
 Aid of Divine Providence

 Rizal was providentially destined to be the pride and glory of our


people. God has endowed him with the versatile talents of a rare
genius, the unsurpassed spirit of nationalism, and the valiant heart to
sacrifice himself for a noble cause
School days in Biňan

 The First formal schooling of Rizal was in Biňan, he studied here on the year
1870-1871.

 He have a good teacher there named Maestro Justiniano Aquino Cruz

 The first day of Rizal in school brought him in his first Fight, it was between
him and pedro. And after defeating pedro, Rizal became popular to the
school but this was not his last fight because he have been challenge by
many students.
 His Painting lesson in binian improved his skills in painting
and become one of the apprentice of their teacher.
 He became the best student in school because he have beaten all binian
boys, also he managed to surpassed them in Spanish, Latin and other
languages.

 When he learned all that Maesto Justinian couldteach him, he was reffered to
college in manila.
