 To provide students with a grounding in basic


legal principles.
 To develop an awareness of different legal
frameworks for business organisations.
 To enable students to critically analyse and
apply legal knowledge in business situations.
 To encourage students to communicate
effectively.
Seminar Preparation
 Relationship between law and answering law questions.

 Researching and applying legal resources.

 Identifying the ratio / precedent of the cases.

 Establishing the skills used for the remainder of the


module.
Seminars / Feedback
 Feedback - essential aspect of your learning.

 Informal feedback will be given in every seminar.

 Formal feedback will be given with your returned essays.

 Seminar questions are very similar to the exam questions


you will face in April 2017.

 Guidance as to examinable topics will be raised in the


lectures.
Outline of the Topics
 English Legal System and EU Law;
 Contract;
 Torts;
 Company;
 Audit.
 NOTE: You should refer to level 4 resources for a
better understanding of level 5 material. For
example, this level does not cover contract formation
(agreement; intention; consideration).
Methods of Assessment
 You must pass – essay and exam – with an
overall grade of 40%.
 Essay: The weighting is 50%– a 2,500 word
essay to be submitted in April 2017
 Exam: The weighting is 50% – 3hrs.15mins
(six questions – you answer any three. The
six questions related to the six areas of law
covered).
Assignment Preparation
 You may ask specific questions in seminars (but not
for ‘the answer’);

 Ensures misunderstandings are minimized;

 Ensure you use the correct structure and content:

 Ensure you include the correct case law evidence


and critique the law.
Responsibilities
 Attendance at lectures - optional;

 Attendance at seminars - compulsory.

 Purchase / use of textbooks.

 Preparation for seminars - answers / questions.
