Livelihood
• Apart from family members and
their homes, many survivors have
also lost their only source of
livelihood—farming.

• Most residents of Guinsaugon


plant either palay, abaca, or
coconuts.
• A 2.6 magnitude earthquake prior to the event could
have triggered the landslide.

• Property worth P150 million to P200 million was


damaged as a result of the disaster.

• The mid-February landslides were triggered by heavy rains and
caused extensive damage to homes, businesses and crops.
Many roads are impassable and power has been cut off in
some areas, key projects for every family have been destroyed.
A portion of a nearby mountain collapsed,
burying the entire village of Guinsaugon with
mud.
Mud and rocks from the collapsed part of the
mountain destroyed properties in Guinsaugon.
US Marines struggle through mud to look for
survivors buried under the mud.
