INTRODUCTION
• Ibans are a branch of the
Dayak peoples of Borneo.
• In Malaysia,most Ibans
are located in Sarawak
• They speak the Iban
language
• Mostly Iban’s people live
long house
LONG HOUSE
Majority of the Ibans still preferred longhouses
rather than towns or individual houses. These
longhouses are mainly located near a main
river surrounded by the rainforest. It is a house
made from bamboo and tree bark, comprising
many rooms which can accommodate quite a
few numbers of families.
IBAN RITUAL FESTIVALS AND RITES

Many type of Gawai ‘s Festival


1. Rice harvesting festival (Gawai Dayak)
2. Bird festival (Gawai Burong)
3. Spirit festival (Gawai Antu)

*But the main festival for the Ibans is Rice


harvesting festival (Gawai Dayak), celebrated
on 31st May and 1st June
GAWAI DAYAK DAY
• Gawai Dayak (Harvesting Festival) is the celebration of
unity, aspiration and hope. It marks the end of the rice
harvest and ushers in another year of generous
goodness

• While celebrating Gawai Dayak Day, there must have :


 Ranyai
 Tuak
 Miring ceremony
 Kujuk

KUJUK
Kujuk is a culture.
They use pua kumbu to
covered the food.
Often, ‘Tuai Rumah’ will
