Introduction

 Makes an important contribution in the


education and gradual formation of personality.
 Moral values may be created in the form of good
habits at this stage.
 Discipline, Hard work, self reliance, co-operatve
spirit may be inculcated in child at this stage.
 Primary education creates curiosities in those
child who have not received education in an
infant-education school.

 Influenced by the British system of education.
 Later developed their own system of
education on European pattern according to
their needs.
 In beginning tried to spread primary
education with a view to spread literacy.
 Constitution of U.S.A. excluded education
from the preview of federal authority.

 The 10th amendment of the consitution
simply indicates that state govt. are free to
use power which have not been served for
Federal Govt.

History:
The first Kindergarten school of USA was
established in 1865 and first nursery school in New
York in 1919.
Pattern of Pre-Primary
Education
 From the day of conception to the Age of 2
years.
 From 2 to 3 Yr of Age( Nursery Education).
 From 3 to 6 or 7 year of Age.
1. From the day of conception to the Age of 2
years. :- It is essential that parent should become conscious
of their responsibilities and should have appropriate
knowledge of child psychology.
2. From 2 to 3 year of age( Nursery
Education):- Homely atmosphere is provided in them to
look after the children in company of their equals. Child centers
and various private institution run Nursery schools.
i. Control on Nursery schools.
a) Managed by federal Govt, State Govt, or Local bodies.
b) Maintained by social agencies such as religious bodies, Trusts
and Organization.
c) Opened and maintained by Private individuals
d) Cooperative Nursery schools
Function of Nursery education:-
 To develop social relations.
 Mature his emotions.
 The child express his feelings.
 Develop good habits.
 Preparing for studies.
 Provide healthy environment.
KINDERGARTEN SCHOOLS
 FROM 3 TO 6 OR 7 YEARS OF AGE:-
This education is given by
kindergarten schools. The first kindergarten
school was opened in 1856 in watertown,
Winconsin by a disciple of forebal in German
language. Health programme are organised
along with group activities and plays, besides,
they are inspired to do self- work.
Primary Elementary EDUCATION

 Elementary education Act was passed by


federal govt. in 1965 and 1970 necessary
amendments.
 To develop social attitudes$social
relationship.
 Utilisation of leisure time.
 Formulation of ideas.
Pattern of Elementary Education:-
 Traditional i.e. from the age of 6-14 years.
Six years school i.e. from the age of 6-12
years. Elementary education is free and
compulsory in all the 50 states.
The main aim of education is to train the
children to live in a democratic society.
Fundamental Principles Of Elementary Education

 To develop healthy society tendencies in


children.
 To develop a tendency to take care of health.
 To develop spirit of freedom.
 To develop national feeling.
 To develop individual personality and
characterstic.
 For developing constructive powers of children.
 To develop the basic skills .
 To promote cultural recreational and creative
interst.
 To develop a spirit of friendship for the
people of the world.
CURRICULUM:-In addition to the curriculum of
the curriculum of 3R’s spelling, grammer,
literature, composition, music , history,
geography and hygiene. Now 3R’s have
basically become 5R’s by the addition of
relationship and recreation.
Other Feature of Elementay Education

 Emphasis on formal class teaching to
informal teaching.

Purpose of Elementary Education

Kindergarten schools:-
 To follow the pattern of nursery education for
developing natural abilities of children and to arouse
the curiosty of children towards educatuion. It is
done through games and recreation.
 To provide subject wise education to children and to
prepare them for primary education by impairing
knowledge of common words $no.
 The effort to establish these schools started
in the 19th century but their development took place
in 20th century. For the establishment of public
kindergarten, state govt. give sufficient grants in
addition to financial assistance by the public
voluntary.
