NEURO-LINGUISTIC
PROGRAMMING(NLP)
Neuro-linguistic Programming:
background (NLP)
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was
developed at the University of California at Santa
Cruz in the 1970's. Its founders and principal
authors were Richard Bandler, a student of
mathematics and computer science, and John
Grinder, a professor of linguistics. McLendon
(1989) describes the emergence of NLP between
1972 and 1981.
NLP has since achieved popularity as a method
for communication and personal development.
It is used by professional practitioners of many
kinds - managers, trainers, sales people, market
researchers, counselors, consultants, medics,
lawyers and more .
The basic principle of NLP is that success can
be achived by increasing the positive habits and
reducing the negative ones. These positive
habits either can belong to the same individual
or can be a model of habits of highly successful
people.
MEANING OF NLP?
Neuro-linguistic programming states that our perception
of an experience depends not only on external stimuli,
but also on what our senses capture and our mind
interprets employing our preset notions, beliefs,
assumptions, & value system thus, our response to the
external stimuli or experience is dependent on this
perceived image of the world using the emotions,
feelings, and thoughts we go through during that event.
The World Neuro – Linguistie Programming Can
Be Broken In To Three Distinct Words Which Are As
Follows:

NEURO: It refers to the brain and neural network that feeds

into the brain
LINGUISTICS: it refers to the content both verbal and
nonverbal ,that moves across and through these pathways.
Programming: It is the way the content or signal is
manipulated to convert it in to useful information.
Definition of NLP
• According to Richard Bandler : “NLP
is an attitude of insatiable curiosity
about human beings with a
methodology that leaves behind a
trail of techniques”
NLP can help you to:
· Be more successful by learning to influence
your emotional and psychological states.
· Replace negative behaviors and habits with
positive ones.
· Transform the way you go about everyday tasks.
· Be more aware of your impact on others and
how to manage your behavior for optimal results.
NLP PRE-SUPPOSITIONAL BELIEFS
• Neuro-linguistic courses a belief is a basic
structure of model of the world that we think is
true. it may have different degrees of beliefs,
some might be strong and others could be
changed easily.
• The beliefs that very near and dear to us and to
whom give utmost importance are our core
beliefs. The core beliefs are used for formulating
pre-suppositions.
Operating system of pre-suppositions
1) mental processing pre suppositions
•map is not a the territory
•people responsend as there internal maps
•meaning is context dependent
•mind and body inevitably affect each
other
•individual skills operate by developing
and sequencing representative systems
•Respect of other person’s model of the
world
2)pre-suppositions about human
behaviour and responses
a)person is not that same as his behaviour

b)every behaviour has a purpose in same

context
Methods of NLP
1) ANCHORING
2) SWISH METHOD
