STREET LAMP UNIT AND LOW VOLTAGE
• incharge in installing and maintaining the utility of street
lamps.
• -Installation of standard street lighting is made at poles of
low voltage overhead lines.
• wire connections are made using Piercing Connector to
insulated conductive wires of street lighting in the air.
• Cut the branches at overhead lines (trail).

PROBLEM:Fuse in the black box keep blowing up

The team crew are responsible in street lamp and overhead lines
maintenance. Eventually, the maintenance is done by TNB electrical
contractors and are supervised by TNB’s worker

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE UNIT

• Responsible in operating and maintaining the equipment in a substation.

• In a basic substation :
• transformer
• switchgear
• low voltage distribution box (LVDB)/feeder pillar.

• The unit is different compare to the project team because mostly, they do the
operations on their own without venture with any electrical contractors.
• Basically electrical substation have incoming / outgoing circuit controlled by
the switchgears in the same busbar system which is then operated to adjust
either raised or lowered the supply voltage to the transmission.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

SUBSTATIONS UNIT
-Doing routine maintenance and inspect the equipment in the substation
-testing newly arrived equipment such as transformer

EXAMINED THE BATTERY CHARGER
-The charge need to be working in order to convert AC to DC
and energize the battery
-The battery act as a DC supply to provide power in case of
power disconnection in the system
-DC system is required to supply the load for 5 hours if there is
interruption of AC supply

• Project unit = this unit is responsible in implementing a

new project to be built or operated.
• The work done is not only limited to new project but it
involves increasing supply of electricity applied by the
user as well as project that involve TNB electricity
supply system itself.

CONCLUSION

• In conclusion, trained at Tenaga Nasional Berhad Kulim(

Distribution ) allow trainees to contribute and practice all the
theories that have been studied in the university.

• Trainee also gain exposure on a work process and

equipment used in TNB. In addition, the trainee can also
develop technical knowledge and skills.
